We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Formatting Specialist to assist with converting a Word manuscript into a professionally formatted eBook and print-ready file. This project involves preparing the manuscript for publishing via Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), distribution on multi-retailer platforms (like Draft2Digital or Smashwords), and creating a print-ready PDF for BookVault.

The ideal candidate has prior experience with eBook and print formatting, understands the nuances of EPUB and PDF requirements, and can work independently while maintaining high-quality standards. This is a one-time project with an opportunity for future collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

📖 Format the Manuscript (Word):

Apply proper styles for headings (Heading 1, Heading 2, etc.)
Remove headers, footers, and page numbers for eBook
Use page breaks between chapters
Replace tabbed indents with paragraph formatting
Insert images “In Line with Text”

📚 eBook Formatting for Amazon KDP:

Convert the file to EPUB format using Kindle Create or equivalent tools
Ensure clickable Table of Contents is properly generated
Review formatting using Amazon Kindle Previewer

🌍 Prepare for Wider Distribution:

Format and validate EPUB for platforms like Draft2Digital, Smashwords, or PublishDrive
Ensure compatibility with Apple Books, Kobo, OverDrive, and other major eBook retailers

📘 Print Formatting for BookVault:

Adjust trim size, margins, bleed, and pagination
Optimize fonts and layout for print readability
Convert to a print-ready PDF per BookVault’s print-on-demand specs
(Optional) Format a print cover file that meets BookVault's requirements

🗂 Final Deliverables:

EPUB for Amazon KDP
EPUB for wider distribution
PDF file for BookVault (print-ready)
Summary of formatting adjustments made
