We’re looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Steel Estimator to prepare accurate quotes, manage costs, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success. This role is critical for ensuring project profitability and timely delivery.
Responsibilities include:
• Preparation of steel fabrication quotes, including interpretation of drawings, quantifying material costs, and estimating job hours and lead times
• Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors for accurate pricing and availability
• Preparing comprehensive estimates covering materials, labor, equipment, and overhead costs
• Identifying potential risks and contingencies to maintain competitiveness and realism
• Collaborating with the team to refine and finalize estimates
• Staying up-to-date with industry trends and pricing
• Developing detailed and accurate take-offs and material lists
• Evaluating and sourcing materials and subcontractor bids
• Scheduling jobs in coordination with the Workshop Manager
• Supporting the workshop with oversight and information for correct and timely job execution
Requirements:
• At least 3 years of experience as an Estimator in sheet metal processing or steel fabrication
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes such as laser cutting, folding, plate rolling, section rolling, and welding
• Proficiency in estimating software, spreadsheets, and AutoCAD/SolidWorks
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret technical drawings
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet tight deadlines
• Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
• Customer-focused with good organizational and prioritization skills
